Project APEX
As a secondary education project that endeavors to improve the job and livelihood prospects of high school students, Project Applied Academics for Excellence (APEX) provides students with basic workplace and entrepreneurship education. Project APEX exposes students to hands-on
applications, interactive peer learning, and exciting activities, thereby
strengthening the student’s academic foundation and technical and life
preparation skills, the skills necessary to pursue post-secondary education and/or
their career of choice.
APEX is a community-based project that
connects secondary schools to the development framework of the community
through meaningful collaborations and local education governance. Academic
teaching and learning utilize the workplace, entrepreneurship, and the
community at large as learning contexts to enrich the student’s learning and
development, which ingrains in them a sense of civic responsibility early on in
life.
The Project sets forth the following objectives:
- Develop basic workplace and entrepreneurial competencies of students;
- Build strong institutional capacity for program sustainability in schools; and
- Actively engage relevant stakeholders in the community and develop strong school - community partnerships.
The Project is founded on partnerships between and among the local government units, the Department of Education, parents, local industries, civic organizations and the wider community.
With APEX technology, students become real world learners, local change makers and productive members of the community. |
