Mr. PIERANGELO B. ALEJO

Mr. Alejo is an education Specialist at the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH). He is currently the Head of the Flexible Learning Solutions Unit of the Centre’s Programs Office. He first joined the Centre in 2004 as project manager of the flexible, learning, multi-modal research project known as LEARNTEACH eXCELS (Excellence in School Leadership for Southeast Asia), and he oversees the organization and conduct of ICeXCELS (Instructional and Curricular Excellence in School Leadership for Southeast Asia) — the first multi-modal, competency-based flexible learning short course package under the eXCELS suite, an eSolution for Southeast Asian education leaders. At present, he is a member of the Quality Management Systems Committee of SEAMEO INNOTECH as an ISO-certified international organization. He specializes in school-based management, values education, educational leadership and management, flexible learning materials development (both content and instructional design), international and local training management. He is the specialist in-charge of the Centre's eSolutions for education leaders, being implemented in the Southeast Asian region.

Mr. Alejo is a licensed professional teacher and university lecturer for nearly sixteen years now. Having graduated from the Royal and Pontifical Catholic University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, he immediately started teaching and moved on to earn his Masters degree in Education, specialization in Values Education, from the School of Education - University of Asia and the Pacific. He has completed the coursework for a Ph.D. in Educational Management at the Philippine Normal University. Before penning his maiden book, this author wrote extensively on virtues and values to his school community where he was Executive Director for seven years, at PAREF Northfield School For Boys - Quezon City. Prior to his experience in Northfield, he was a teacher and Principal of the Night School ( a full scholarship program) at the PAREF Southridge School For Boys in Muntinlupa City, also for a total of seven years. He has written several articles about education, values, and philosophy in various academic publications. From 1994 to 2006, he was a part-time Lecturer of the Faculty of the Philosophy Department of the College of Arts and Sciences, University of Asia and the Pacific. As an education consultant/specialist, he is an active professional lecturer and resource expert on Education, Metaphysics, Philosophy of the Family, Ethics, Ancient, Medieval and Contemporary Philosophy, Philosophical Anthropology, Epistemology, Teacher Training, Values Education, Learning Management Techniques, Educational Management, Personal Formation, Organizational Development, and Learning Leadership.

He is the author of the delectable and nourishing “Values Guisado” (SIBS Publishing House, Inc., 2004), an excellent source book on Q&A Values Education for Parents and Teachers, and "Ibaloy, The Good Igorot Boy" (a Big and Small BRIGHT Books of Merryland Publications, Mandaluyong, 2006).
