Information and Communications Technology

Information Services

INNOTECH's information and communications technology program performs a dual role vis-à-vis the program areas of the Center. On one level, it serves to support the technology thrusts of the Center to fulfill its research and training functions. At the same time, development of educational materials, dissemination of research outputs and provision of information and technology services remain to essential functional areas of the program.

We serve as a regional information resource base for educational innovation and technology through our information network and computer facilities, publications, video productions, and a well stocked Learning Resource Center.

INNOTECH has been actively feathering its technological nest. So far, its technical resources include:

  • state-of-the-art audio, video, multimedia production/editing systems and facilities;
  • computer classrooms, computer hardware and software for desktop publishing, word processing, graphics and artwork and other purposes, and local and wide-area networks;
  • various electronic projections systems, sound systems and a wide range of audiovisual equipment; and
  • audiovisual production resource library for photos, slides, video footages, master tapes and music and sound effects

Program Management System
The Center's Program Management System allows the exchange of data on operations within the Center as well as between INNOTECH and other SEAMEO Centers and the SEAMEO Secretariat. Computer support services are also provided to all Center programs, projects and activities.

Publications
Center staff who put the creative pen to paper regularly come out with:

Semi-annual INNOTECH Journal
Books and occasional monographs
Conference, seminar and workshop proceedings
• INNOTECH Annual Report
Quarterly INNOTECH Newsletter
• Other special publications

Learning Resources
Our Learning Resource Center has been storing up one of the most up to date collections on education and educational innovation in the Philippines. It provides references and learning resources in both print and non-print media with computerized search facility. Also as a permanent library of the Japan Prize, we help improve the quality of educational broadcast in the region by making available to trainers and researchers prize-winning and outstanding educational broadcast programs from all over the world. Search for the Japan Prize Video Library collections here.

Multimedia Services

We produce video and multimedia materials for in-house needs and external clients. We do our own photo and video documentation for Center activities, and make well-targetted use of video technology for training. Video productions on completed and on-going programs and researches are used to orient both clients and visitors on innovative technologies developed by INNOTECH.

Systems Development Services

The growth of computers as learning tools has prodded us to venture into computer-assisted training programs, the production of computer-based instructional materials and other computer applications related to education. The Centre's computer classroom and local and wide area networks have become indispensable facilities for training, research and information. They now allow for conferencing which enriches interaction among training participants and between training participants and experts or counterparts in different parts of the world. Internet access gives us a gateway to a larger market for training, a wider pool of information, and faster communication with institutional partners.
