PAMANA Graduation Ceremonies
Project TAO Kiddie Pamana has just ended its first run, producing more than 800 graduates at the commencement exercises held in Malabon City, Philippines. The three-month program was undertaken to help young children coming from low-income households of Malabon to be physically ready and socially adjusted to begin their formal primary schooling. Project sponsor Senator Teresa Aquino Oreta encouraged the mothers to promote the health habits the children learned in school.

Clockwise: (1) A child receives a certificate of completion from Senator Oreta; (2) The Malabon Amphitheater turned into abig nursery as hundreds of kiddies await the start of the graduation rites; (3) A typical day at a Kiddie PAMANA class.

Vietnam Joins LEARNTECH

SEAMEO INNOTECH has signed an agreement with SEAMEO RETRAC that will ensure cooperation between the two Centers in the implementation of the SEAMEO INNOTECH LearnTech Action Research Project.

Moving On...
Two INNOTECH program directors ended decades of service as they retired from their posts in January 2004. Dr. Ophelia P. Veniegas, former Program Director for Training, relinquished her post to Mr. Philip John Purnell, former Training Specialist. Mrs. Priscilla G. Cabanatan, on the other hand, turned over the leadership of the Center's ICT Program to Mrs. Carolyn S. Rodriguez, former Publications and Documentations Officer.

Dr. Veniegas and Mrs. Cabanatan remain connected with the Center as consultants.

Dr. Veniegas (front row, left) coordinated the visit of Nepalese officials. Her successor, Mr. Purnell (3rd row, left) formerly served as consultant to the DepEd Bureau of Non-formal Education before joining the Center.

Mrs. Cabanatan (standing) facilitated the conduct of the Regional Forum on School Community Partnerships for Educational Quality Improvement in February 2004.

Nepalese Educators on Study Visit

Photo shows the group of Nepalese officials during the orientation on their study visit. Also in photo are (from left) Program Director for Training Mr. Philip John Purnell and Training Associate Mrs. Monique Adalem.
The Nepalese officials visited several NFE Learning Centers and got the chance to witness first-hand how the nonformal education system works in the country and compare this with their existing system in Nepal.
