text2teach: Training of Trainers Workshop

The second phase of BridgeIT in the Philippines, locally referred to as the text2teach project, commenced at the start of the school year 2004 – 2005. This development came after its confirmed expansion to three new project sites, namely Oriental Mindoro, Antique and Cagayan de Oro.

SEAMEO INNOTECH, the implementing arm of the project, held a workshop from May 26-28, 2004, involving the trainers from the identified project sites. The workshop intended to provide the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively use the text2teach content and technology in teaching science to Grades V and VI students.

The participants themselves had the chance to gain first-hand experience in handling a text2teach class through demo teachings, which the workshop required them to do. This gave them opportunity to fine-tune their skills using the text2teach method before conducting echo training in their respective workstations.

The three-day event culminated with the presentation of the participants’ action plans on how to conduct training workshops for fellow teachers.
