Text2Teach Community Launching

Text2Teach, the Philippines program for BridgeIT, launched three additional project sites for SY 2004-2005. The provinces of Mindoro Oriental. Antique and Cagayan de Oro City now form part of the text2teach initiative in the country, which intends to improve the quality of teaching Science in Grades 5 and 6 classes in elementary schools.

A total of forty (40) schools, 80 text2teach teachers, and about 14,000 Grade 5 & 6 students in the three divisions will benefit from this project.

Several training activities were conducted for teacher-trainers to orient them about the project and to provide knowledge and skills needed for the successful implementation of project initiatives.

Under the project, each school will receive 60 text2teach lesson plans for each grade level (Grade 5 & 6), a mediamaster and a TV set, including a satellite dish receiver, and a unique media technology called KnowledgeBox where teachers can get Science lessons.
