VClass Training for SEAMEO INNOTECH Staff

Selected SEAMEO INNOTECH staff recently trained in the use of an open source learning management system held at the Center from October 19-22, 2004.

The open source LMS, called VClass LMS, was chosen by the Center as the official e-learning platform for the delivery and management of online courses under the LEARNTECH eXCELS program.

The Distributed Education Center of the Asian Institute of Technology (DEC-AIT) in Thailand, one of the identified partner institutions of SEAMEO INNOTECH for the LEARNTECH eXCELS initiative, designed and developed VClass LMS. Two of its staff, Research Specialist Mr. Chaiwarat Chaiyapotpanit and Research Associate Mr. Panu Leelaluckana handled the training for INNOTECH staff.

Apart from members of the support staff, also present in the training were Center director Dr. Erlinda C. Pefianco, Research and Evaluation Program director Dr. Eligio B. Barsaga, and ICT Services head Mrs. Carolyn S. Rodriguez. The three will be part of the pool of online instructors once the VClass LMS is launched.
