SEAMEO
INNOTECH 10th International Conference
Secondary education is often tagged as the 'weak
link' in the basic education cycle in Southeast Asia.
With the expanding enrollments brought about by gains
in universalizing access to primary education, the
spotlight is now being focused on secondary education
as the crucial link between primary education on
the one hand, and tertiary education and the world
of work on the other.
SEAMEO INNOTECH recognizes this actuality; one major
reason for training the spotlight this year on creating
endless possibilities in secondary education as the
theme for its 10th international conference.
Held in November 2006, the conference served as
a venue for sharing and examining on-going discourse
on the issues and challenges facing secondary education
in Southeast Asia. It highlighted and promoted understanding
of successful secondary education models, as well
as alternative learning modalities for secondary
education. Similarly, the conference served as a
platform for exploring and probing possibilities
of enrichign secondary school partnership and collaboration
with community stakeholders.
The conference is held every two years to provide
a venue for interaction among Southeast Asian educators
and their counterparts from the rest of the world.
