The Education and Livelihood Skills Alliance (ELSA),
under the United States Agency for International Development (USAID)
Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills
(EQuALLS) program, is a multi-stakeholder, multi-sectoral/public
private partnership, which aims to create and expand school-based
and community-based learning and employment activities for Filipino
young people, ages 30 and under, living in Mindanao, including
the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
The ELSA Project aims to help expand access to,
and quality of basic education in Mindanao, towards the attainment
of economic productivity, peace, and development. The project
runs from October 2004 to October 2007, and brings together the
following key organizations to address education and livelihood
challenges faced by Mindanao youth:
- The International Youth Foundation (IYF) is an international
public foundation that implements youth-oriented programs and
services geared to promote global awareness of children and youth
issues, strengthen the organizational skills of youth program
leaders, and promote greater knowledge and application of best
practices for young people.
- The Ayala Foundation is the social and cultural development
institution of the Ayala Group of Companies. It conducts various
social development and cultural programs that promote human advancement
of Filipinos.
- The Consuelo Foundation, formerly known as the Children and
Youth Foundation of the Philippines, is an indigenous Philippine
foundation seeking to help improve the welfare and prospects
of Filipino children and youth.
- Petron Foundation is an organization devoted solely to
conceptualizing and implementing programs in four
key areas (Education, Environment, Health and Human Services,
and Advocacy) to make a positive and lasting impact in the lives
of Filipinos.
