Title: Science Teaching Improvement Project.
Institution: Department of Education, Culture and Sports -
                    Educational Development Projects Implementing
                    Task Force (DECS-EDPITAF).
Objectives: 1. The development of science equipment through
                    research, prototype production, standard-setting
and tests; 2. The development of expertise
within the educational sector through workshops,

components. The Technical component is concerned
                    with establishing operation system, production
processes, equipment designs and standards; and
addressing the lack of science equipment through

and private sectors. The program component is
focusing on the availment of local and foreign
                    consultancy services for design evaluation,
                    prototype operation and production management;
and staff training locally, in Asian countries
and in Germany. These project activities cover
three (3) distinct phases: the pre-investment
study phase, the pre-operational phase and the
                    operational phase.
Background: The project was conceived in the light of
addressing the lack of science equipment in
                    secondary education through coordination with
related agencies in the public and private
                    sectors.
Expected Outcomes: Local and Foreign consultancy services for design
                    evaluation. Prototype operation and production
management; Staff training locally, in Asian
                    countries and in Germany.
Results to Date: 1. Received nomination for RECSAM Seminar from
various DECSRO. 2. Finished science equipment
list for 1989-1991. 3. Selected Cebu as
National Science Equipment Center. 4. Two German
consultants were availed of in Technical
Programming work. 5. Coordinate with private
manufacturers in the mass production of Science
                    equipment.
