Objectives: The main objective of this project is to develop
accreditation policies and mechanism and to
implement a National Accreditation in order to
improve the quality of middle-level in
Technical/Vocational Education manpower in the
country. Specific project components and
objectives are the following: 1. Development of
accreditation mechanism for project/non-project
institutions; 2. Development of accreditation
policies, guidelines, norms standards and
instruments; 3. Operationalization of the
accreditation system; 4. Implementation of the
national accreditation system; and. 5. Try-out
and monitoring of the national accreditation
system.
Methodology: Phase I: Development of accreditation mechanism
for project institutions involving various
agencies for the development of national
accrediting system for technical and vocational
education. Phase II: Development of
accreditation policies, guidelines and
instruments, manual for technical and vocational
education program. Phase III: Information
campaign for heads of schools offering
technical/vocational education on accreditation.
Phase IV: Pilot testing of instruments and
manuals. Phase V: Training of evaluators
Expected Outcomes: 1. Accreditation network. 2. Proposed
organizations at various levels. 3. General
guidelines of operations
Results to Date: Technical/Vocational Education Accrediting Agency
of the Philippines (TVEAAP) has been created and
affiliated with Federation of Accreditating
Agency of the Philippines (FAAP). The Technical
Panel for Technical/Vocational Education
spearheaded the development of an accreditation
instrument and accreditation manuals through a
series of seminar-workshops and conferences with
the involvement of CTESD's, TEIs, private
technical schools and associations. The
accreditation instruments was accomplished by the
Centers of Technician Education and Staff
Development (CTESDs) and 21 Technical Education
Institutes (TEIs) for self-assessment as an
initial step for accreditation. The evaluation
instruments have already been retrieved,
consolidated and analyzed. The TVEAAP has been
registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission.
