Title: Summer Technician Teacher Upgrading Program.
Institution: Educational Development Project Implementing Task
Force (EDPITAF) - Technical Vocational Education
                    Project (TVEP).

participants are expected to: 1. Gain complete
mastery in the principles and theories required
of them to teach topics in the third year DY=T
technology subjects; 2. Improve their level of

to above in their respective fields of
specialization; and. 3. Use the instructional

Methodology: The STTUP would be conducted in the three CTESDs
for Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. The three
                    Centers would implement the program
                    simultaneously. Whenever possible, participation
of industry in their respective regions should be
enlisted and sharing of resources among CTESDs
would be encouraged. Each CTESD would prepare
its detailed STTUP Implementation Plan based on
this Program Plan prepared on 7-9 March by
representatives of CTESDs and revised according
to the comments of the TVEP Project Director.
Background: Industries are greatly dependent on prevailing
technology; hence, their required manpower must
be of necessity, be competently and technically
skilled in the technologies. And the technician
teacher is a key factor in the training and
education of this skilled manpower. The
professional growth of the technician should keep
pace with the fast technological advacements of
the times and the continuous upgrading of
teachers in the new and emergent technologies and
the current trends of instruction is necessary.
New subjects have been included in the three-year
DT curriculum. Thus the inadequacy of teachers
in teaching these new subjects and topics has
been felt and expressed by representatives of DT
teachers and supervisors. To equip these
teachers wirh adequate knowledge in the
curriculum content pertaining to these subject as
well as to orient them in the use of
                    instructional materials and autio-visual aides,
the 1988 Summer Technician Teachers Upgrading
Program (STTUP) would be held in the TVEP CTESDs.
Expected Outcomes: A duration of three weeks (about 144 training
hours) would consist of content upgrading during
the first two weeks and the use of instructional
materials in the last week. The use of the
learning elements and audio-visual aids would be
done at each CTESD in one day during the last
                    week.
Results to Date: Training was conducted twice during the year June
and December. A total of 147 teachers
                    successfully completed the course.
