Indonesia
- Managing Basic Education (MBE)

The main objective of the Managing Basic Education project is to build models of improved basic education in a number of target districts, which can be replicated to other districts. Under this grand scheme, community participation from the districts is seen as a crucial element for the success of the project. One of the areas covered by the project is the Banyuwangi district in East Java, Indonesia. Community participation in Banyuwangi, especially from parents supporting their schools is said to be constantly improving since the project started. The community has funded and helped constructed a language laboratory, science laboratory, computer laboratory, bike parking area, new pavement, and a new school entrance gate for the district school. Furthermore, the community is also getting involved in may extra-curricular activities in schools such as celebrations of national and religious holidays for which many ideas come from the local community.
