Even before they picked up their university scrolls yesterday, 42 of the 59 graduates in the pioneer batch of early childhood education degree students under the Ministry of Education’s Polytechnic-Foreign Specialised Institution initiative were snapped up by employers.
Twenty-four have been hired by NTUC First Campus, the largest single childcare operator in Singapore, while one is working as a kindergarten trainee principal at the PAP Community Foundation Education Centre.
Launched in June 2007, the degree is offered by Boston’s Wheelock College in collaboration with Ngee Ann Polytechnic and the Regional Training and Resource Centre in Early Childhood Care and Education for Asia.
