1. In countries where two or more education structures exist, indicators were calculated on the basis of the most common or widespread structure.
2. National population data were used to calculate enrollment ratios.
3. Children enter primary school at age 6 or 7. Since 7 is the most common entrance age, enrollment ratios were calculated using the 7-11 age group for both enrollments and population.
4. Enrolment ratios were not calculated, due to lack of United Nations population data by age.
