QUEZON CITY, Philippines — SEAMEO INNOTECH brought together school leaders and STEM educators from the Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) to strengthen the connection between school leadership and classroom practice, highlighting their shared role in driving meaningful change in STEM education.
Through the Innovators SEAL: STEM Education Leadership for Change Program, conducted on 8 September 2026, the Centre engaged 35 participants from across PSHSS, comprising 17 school leaders and 18 STEM educators.
The program featured parallel learning tracks on STEM education and school leadership. Dr. Sheryl Lyn Monterola, Director of the University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP-NISMED), served as the key resource speaker for the STEM Track.
Meanwhile, the leadership track modules were delivered by Dr. Juan Robertino Macalde, Manager of SEAMEO INNOTECH’s Learning Development and Management Office (LDMO), alongside Ms. Ethel Joan Atienza, Senior Program Officer, and Ms. Inna Katrina Dado, Program Officer, of the School Leadership Development Unit (SLDU-LDMO).
SEAMEO INNOTECH Centre Director Dr. Majah-Leah V. Ravago opened the session, followed by welcome remarks from PSHSS Deputy Executive Director Dr. Shena Faith M. Ganela. PSHSS Executive Director Dr. Ronnalee Orteza delivered the closing remarks.
