CEBU CITY, Philippines — SEAMEO INNOTECH joined education leaders, teacher educators, and partners at the ASEAN Teacher Education Conference 2026, held on 2–3 July 2026 in Cebu City, Philippines, contributing to regional discussions on the evolving role of teachers in Southeast Asia. 

The conference provided a platform for participants to exchange perspectives on teacher education and explore the qualities, competencies, and support systems needed to prepare educators for the digital era. Representing SEAMEO INNOTECH, Centre Director Dr. Majah-Leah V. Ravago participated in the panel discussion, “Who is an ASEAN Teacher?”, contributing to conversations on teacher identity, quality, resilience, and the shared role of educators in shaping the future of education across the region. 

The discussions highlighted the importance of regional collaboration in responding to the changing needs of teachers and education systems. By bringing together education leaders and teacher educators, the conference fostered the exchange of ideas and experiences that can help strengthen teacher preparation and professional development throughout Southeast Asia.
