Inclusive education in action: INNOTECH holds language validation workshops for Filipino and Bahasa Melayu resources for parents
INNOTECH has taken a major step toward making educational resources more accessible and relevant for parents across Southeast Asia by conducting language validation workshops in the Philippines and Malaysia in April 2025. The initiative is part of the DT4E/Parents Phase 2 project, which aims to break down language barriers and ensure that Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials produced by the Centre resonate with local communities.
The Philippine workshop was held on April 10, 2025, at the INNOTECH campus in Quezon City, in collaboration with the National Parent-Teacher Association Philippines. The Malaysian session followed on April 23 at SMK Sultan Abu Bakar Secondary School in Kuantan, Pahang. Both events brought together nominated parents, guardians, and teachers from the project partners to review and validate the translations of infographics and short-form videos.
The Centre prioritized translating IEC resources into Filipino and Bahasa Melayu based on the project’s Phase 1 feedback that English materials limited the access to the resources for non-English-speaking audiences. The DT4E/Parents project aims to ensure linguistic accuracy and cultural relevance by integrating translation and validation early in the solutions development stage. The validated translations will be used to update and enhance Phase 1 materials for parents and educators across the region.
