Batang Mahusay: Exemplifying SEL in Learner’s Environs and Teacher’s Pedagogy (ExSELLEnT)

This explainer introduces ExSELLEnT: The Contextualized Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Competency Framework for Filipino Learners, a joint initiative of ChildFund Philippines, SEAMEO INNOTECH, and the Philippine Department of Education. This framework defines SEL competencies within the Filipino context, grounding its principles in local cultural and social values so that learning resonates with students’ everyday realities. By addressing gaps in existing practices, it provides a foundation for more cohesive and consistent SEL programs and policies, helping Filipino learners grow holistically—socially, emotionally, and culturally.
