INNOTECH Expands Free Digital Parenting Resources for Southeast Asian Families
SEAMEO INNOTECH has significantly expanded its free digital parenting resource collection to better support parents and caregivers across Southeast Asia in navigating the challenges of raising children in a digital world. Building on the initial 2023 launch of 10 infographics and 13 short videos, the expanded collection now features 21 short videos, 7 new infographics, and 2 podcast episodes — accessible in English, Bahasa Melayu, and Filipino.
The expanded digital parenting collection cover key digital topics relevant to today’s parents and caregivers. Some of the materials provide practical guides for navigating popular digital platforms used by children, such as Google Classroom — with resources like “A Parent’s Introduction to Google Classroom,” “Understanding How Children Use Google Classroom,” and “How tech-savvy should parents be to help their children with Google Classroom?” Other materials break down social media platforms with titles like “Decoding Instagram: A simple guide for parents” and “Unlocking TikTok for parents,” helping parents understand the apps their children engage with.

The resources also emphasize online safety and responsible technology use with infographics like “A parent’s guide to online safety and responsible technology use for the family,” and videos addressing issues such as parental controls (covering Google SafeSearch, Apple Screen Time, Google Family Link), location tracking concerns, and setting digital boundaries that the whole family can respect.
To support children’s learning, topics like scaffolding are explained in both infographics and videos, for example, “How does scaffolding work?” and “What is parental mediation?” Additionally, the materials highlight important challenges and concerns parents face, such as cyberbullying, internet addiction, online pornography, sexting, screen time limits, and knowing when a child is ready for a smartphone.
Two podcasts titled “Raising Digital Kids: Are We Doing Enough to Keep Them Safe?” and “How to Promote Children’s Digital Wellness” offer deeper discussions aimed at helping families create healthier digital environments for children.

Together, these resources provide a comprehensive toolkit for parents and caregivers with children in K-12 levels to better understand, guide, and protect their children as they navigate the digital world while fostering learning and well-being at home.
SEAMEO INNOTECH encourages school administrators and educators to integrate these easily downloadable resources into parental education programs and share them widely to strengthen family engagement in digital learning environments.
To continue improving these materials, parents and caregivers are invited to provide feedback via a brief, five-minute survey: https://tinyurl.com/DT4EParents
Participants will receive an electronic raffle ticket for a chance to win fun prizes, making the feedback process rewarding as well as impactful. All the digital parenting tools can be accessed freely on SEAMEO INNOTECH’s website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X and YouTube.
With these enhanced resources, SEAMEO INNOTECH reaffirms its commitment to equipping families with the knowledge and skills needed to support their children’s growth, well-being, and safety in the digital age.
