INNOTECH runs 3 advanced eXCELS courses online

SEAMEO INNOTECH continues to publicly offer courses to school heads in the country under the Excellence in School Leadership for Southeast Asia. In March 2014, the Center had three advanced eXCELS courses on-going and these included classes for change management excellence (CHANGeXCELS), teaching and learning excellence (TEACHeXCELS), and supervision excellence (SUPEReXCELS).

eXCELS courses are interactive and self-instructional online professional development programs designed for Southeast Asian school heads. The courses were developed based on a competency framework developed by SEAMEO INNOTECH and validated by ministries of education in eleven SEAMEO member countries. eXCELS learners also include head masters, assistant principals, emerging principals, or any school person with line management authority and instructional supervisory role.

CHANGeXCELS and TEACHeXCELS are two-module courses with four to five weeks of online activities, while SUPEReXCELS is a three-module course with online activities lasting up to eight weeks. Online activities include synchronous and asynchronous sessions with experts and practitioners, otherwise known as flexible learning tutors. Passers of these programs get an international certificate of competency from SEAMEO INNOTECH, and three academic credit units for any graduate or post-graduate degree course in accredited teacher education institutions in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, a learning needs assessment was conducted in Davao prior to the implementation of GURO21. A total of 59 learners joined the activity, facilitated by Flexible Learning Solutions Senior Specialist Mr. Pier Angelo Alejo and Specialist Mr. Roberto Macalde, Jr.
