SEDF Program on Excellence in Managerial Leadership for School Heads in Southeast Asia

Thirty one school leaders from 10 SEAMEO countries came to the Philippines for the SEAMEO Educational Development Fund (SEDF) Program on Excellence in Managerial Leadership for School Heads in Southeast Asia, held from 3 to 10 December 2015. The program aims to train the school heads, as well as those in the Ministry of Education, in the management of their school’s finances, people, programs, and projects.

The week-long training program has been a venue for sharing each country’s best practices in the field of school management. Participants visited two schools in Dasmariñas, Cavite to observe staff management practices in the Philippines. First is the Congressional National High School where they were informed about the school’s professional development program for staff. The second is Bautista Elementary School where they were able to witness how school heads give feedback to their teachers as well as observe actual classes including special education courses.

Included in the program was participation in the recently concluded 14th SEAMEO INNOTECH International Conference. Participants were able to contribute in the discussion and development of the Southeast Asian Youth Education Agenda.

The week-long training program ended as the participants create their own action plans as school head in their respective countries.
