INNOTECH Celebrates Largest SEA-SLP Cohort with Graduation of 89 School Leaders from 17 Countries

SEAMEO INNOTECH concludes the Southeast Asian School Leadership Program (SEA-SLP) with 89 successful completers from 17 countries. On February 16, 2024, a virtual closing ceremony was held to award the Certificate of Competence, recognizing the learners’ transformative 12-week leadership journey.

Anchored on INNOTECH’s Competency Framework for School Heads in Southeast Asia , the program equips school heads with five essential competencies: Strategic Thinking and Innovation, Instructional Leadership, Stakeholder Engagement, Managerial Leadership, and Personal Excellence. SEA-SLP is offered as a scholarship program under the SEAMEO Educational Development Fund.

The 2023-2024 program saw its largest and most diverse cohort since its pilot in 2021. SEAMEO INNOTECH Center Director, Professor Leonor Magtolis Briones, marked the significant milestone in her welcome speech, calling it a “momentous chapter in SEA-SLP’s history”. School heads from 9 Southeast Asian countries were joined by participants from Belize, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka and Filipino school heads from Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar.

Deputy Center Director Kochakorn Khattapan Acidre, in her closing message, highlighted the “forged connections that transcended physical borders”. School leaders from all over the world engaged in thought-provoking discussions and shared innovative practices. Country Facilitators from Southeast Asia provided personalized mentorship and enabled the success of each school leader.

SEA-SLP’s impact continues with the blended version in March 2024, offering another opportunity for school leaders to embark on this transformative leadership journey.
