INNOTECH Seminar Series on Education, Innovation and Technology | Seminar 1
The inaugural INNOTECH Seminar Series on Education, Innovation, and Technology, held on May 14, 2025, at SEAMEO INNOTECH, Quezon City, served as a timely and strategic platform to explore the intersection of research, innovation, and policy in an increasingly digital and interconnected world. As societies undergo rapid transformation driven by technological advancement, sectors such as education, industry, healthcare, agriculture, and governance face both immense opportunities and complex challenges. Recognizing this, the seminar aimed to bridge the gap between research and practice, particularly in developing countries where the systematic dissemination and application of research findings remain limited. By fostering cross-sector collaboration and dialogue, the seminar sought to support evidence-based policymaking and the co-creation of solutions that respond to real-world needs.
A highlight of the event was the keynote presentation by Mr. Zafer Mustafaoğlu, Country Director for the Philippines, Malaysia, and Brunei at the World Bank, titled “Investing in Future Innovators: Reforms to Prepare for Knowledge Economies.” His talk emphasized the urgent need for education systems to adapt and evolve in response to the demands of a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy. With over 50 onsite participants and more than 100 joining online, the seminar brought together a diverse group of stakeholders—including educators, researchers, industry experts, policymakers, and development partners—underscoring the event’s role as a collaborative platform for sharing ideas, showcasing innovations, and exploring interdisciplinary approaches to inclusive and sustainable development.
