10th Capacity Building Program for INNOTECH Learning Coaches: Exploring Taiwan’s Smart Learning Innovations and AI-Enabled Classrooms
TAIPEI, Taiwan — As part of the 10th Capacity Building and Certification Course for SEAMEO INNOTECH Learning Coaches, participants visited the Affiliated Experimental Elementary School of the University of Taipei (ESUT) to gain firsthand exposure to smart learning practices and AI-enabled classroom innovations, held from 27 April to 1 May 2026.
Featured by HABOOK, the institutional visit showcased how Taiwan integrates artificial intelligence (AI), data-driven systems, and interactive technologies into classroom instruction to create more engaging, collaborative, and learner-centered learning experiences.
Participants explored smart teaching platforms such as the TEAM Model and HiTeach, and observed “1-to-1 tablet” learning environments where digital technologies are integrated into everyday classroom instruction to support active participation and collaborative learning among students.
One of the highlights of the visit was an AI-supported bilingual Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) class, where students actively participated in classroom discussions while AI tools generated real-time summaries, mind maps, and learning insights that helped teachers support student engagement more effectively.
The delegation also gained insights into AI-powered lesson observation systems that assist educators in analyzing classroom interactions and translating observations into more focused and evidence-informed teaching strategies.
Facilitated by SEAMEO INNOTECH through Marvin Dominic B. Buena and Michelle Sarabillo, the learning visit encouraged participants to reflect on how innovative and AI-enabled practices may be adapted to strengthen teaching, learning, and professional development initiatives within their respective institutions and communities.
Through capacity-building initiatives and international learning engagements such as this, SEAMEO INNOTECH continues to empower Learning Coaches and educators across Southeast Asia by fostering innovation, collaboration, and transformative learning in an increasingly digital education landscape.
