SEAMEO INNOTECH Partners in Advancing STEM Leadership for Change
BANGKOK, Thailand — SEAMEO INNOTECH strengthened regional efforts to advance future-ready STEM education by participating in the STEM Education Leadership for Change Programme – Training of Trainers Workshop, which gathered education leaders and STEM advocates from across Southeast Asia from April 27–30, 2026.
SEAMEO STEM-ED led the program in partnership with SEAMEO INNOTECH, SEAMEO RECSAM, SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, and Caravan of Knowledge, with Michigan State University serving as a key international collaborator and Chevron providing funding support. The initiative brought together educators, trainers, and institutional representatives to exchange expertise, explore innovative learning approaches, and strengthen STEM leadership across the region.
Participants engaged in collaborative discussions and hands-on learning sessions that focused on leadership development, emerging educational tools, and strategies for building responsive STEM learning environments. The program emphasized the importance of regional and global cooperation in addressing evolving educational challenges and preparing learners for future demands.
Representatives from SEAMEO INNOTECH participated actively in the workshop, including Dr. Juan Robertino D. Macalde, Ms. Ethel Joan Atienza, and Ms. Ma. Regina Peñarroyo. The team collaborated with STEM trainers Dr. Sheryl Lyn Monterola, Director of the University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED); Dr. Ricky Magno, Dean of the College of Teacher Education of West Visayas State University; and Dr. Christian Sango, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of the Schools Division of Davao Oriental under DepEd Region XI, to co-develop strategies and identify practical approaches that support transformative STEM education initiatives.
SEAMEO INNOTECH will lead the Philippine implementation of the program during its next phase on May 26–28, 2026 at the Centre’s office in Quezon City. The activity will gather teacher-leaders, school leaders, and education managers who will apply shared learnings and translate regional collaboration into meaningful educational action within schools and communities.
SEAMEO INNOTECH continues to support initiatives that strengthen educational leadership, innovation, and collaboration across Southeast Asia. Through programs such as this, the Centre reinforces its commitment to empowering educators and building resilient and future-ready learning communities.
