Driving Inclusive Education Through Digital Innovation: SEAMEO INNOTECH at PAFTE 2026
SEAMEO INNOTECH highlighted the role of digital innovation in advancing inclusive education at the 16th Midyear Convention of the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators (PAFTE), held on May 21–22, 2026, at the Manila Prince Hotel and via Microsoft Live.
With the theme “SDG 2030: Reforms in Basic, Technical and Teacher Education Curricula,” the convention gathered university leaders, deans, teacher educators, and basic education practitioners from across the Philippines to discuss key reforms in education.

Dr. Juan Robertino “Robbie” Macalde, Manager of the Learning Development and Management Office (LDMO) of SEAMEO INNOTECH, delivered a presentation on “Digital Innovations for Inclusive Teaching and Learning,” showcasing the Center’s work in strengthening education systems through technology-enabled solutions, capacity-building initiatives, and research-based innovations.
The session introduced practical strategies and regional experiences demonstrating how digital tools can make learning more accessible, equitable, and responsive to diverse learner needs. It emphasized that innovation goes beyond technology and that it is a means to improve teaching quality, enhance learning outcomes, and expand opportunities for underserved communities.


Dr. Macalde also highlighted INNOTECH’s ongoing efforts to support teachers, school leaders, and institutions in navigating digital transformation while ensuring inclusivity in education.
The Center’s participation reflects its commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing across Southeast Asia. Through conferences, policy dialogues, and professional learning initiatives, INNOTECH continues to serve as a platform for exchanging research, best practices, and innovative solutions to shared educational challenges.
