INNOTECH SENIOR ACCOUNTANT RECEIVES SEAMEO SERVICE AWARD

SEAMEO INNOTECH senior accountant Marilou E. Dones became a recipient of the SEAMEO Service Award for 2010 during the 46th SEAMEO Council Conference held in Brunei Darussalam late January 2011. Brunei’s Minister of Education and new SEAMEC president Mr. Pehin Abu Bakar Apong personally handed the plaque of recognition to Mrs. Dones.

Mrs. Dones started with INNOTECH as a clerk in 1978 and has since been promoted to her current post in the Center’s Finance Management team. She is mainly responsible for the upkeep of the Center’s payroll system where she is highly regarded for her professionalism and integrity. Mrs. Dones shares the Award with 14 other employees from various SEAMEO regional centers. The SEAMEO Service Award is given annually to outstanding SEAMEO employees to recognize and appreciate exemplary contributions to the Organization’s missions and goals. The selection of the awardees is based on a set of criteria that includes exceptional work performance, innovation and creativity, and professionalism and commitment. Meanwhile, other SEAMEO Awards were also given during the SEAMEC Conference, and these include the winners of the SEAMEO Song Writing Competition, the SEAMEO-Australia Press Award, and the Jasper Award. (Please visit the SEAMEO website for details.) Similarly, Dato’ Ahamad bin Sipon, director of the SEAMEO Secretariat was also given recognition for his service and dedication. Dato’ Sipon’s term will conclude in March 2011.
