SEAMEO INNOTECH conducts capacity building for ECCD

SEAMEO INNOTECH was commissioned by the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Council to conduct a capacity building program for selected City/Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers (C/MSWDOs). Leading and Managing an Integrated ECCD Program aims to strengthen the competencies of C/MSWDOs to effectively lead and manage the Child Development Centers in the Philippines. Through the three-phase program, participants are expected to develop and implement action plans on improving the delivery of integrated ECCD services and thus strengthen the existing National Child Development Centers and transform the remaining Day Care Centers into Child Development Centers in accordance with the ECCD quality standards.

Phase 1 is a five-day face-to-face learning activity designed to enable the participants to take a closer look at the current delivery system of ECCD and broaden their understanding of the ECCD environment. Learning sessions helped the participants share their experiences, recognize successful practices and discern what makes them successful as they reflect on their own practices. At the end of Phase 1, participants were required to come up with their own Re-entry Strategic Action Plan (RSAP), which they will implement in Phase 2.

Through Phase 2, participants had the chance to practice what they have learned from Phase 1. They were required to document at least one ‘good’ integrated ECCD practice which they will share on Phase 3. Phase 3 is a three-day integration session designed to highlight and document ‘good’ ECCD practices and experiences implemented on the ground. This integral session is focused on the self-reflection of the integrative ECCD leader.

First batch of the program was concluded last 27-29 April 2016 in Lingayen, Pangasinan with 35 participants. Batch 2 of the said program is expected to happen on August 2016.
